Myths & misconceptions dispelled or clarified…
$200,000 purchase price
Sometime in the infancy of the Atomic Art R&D, this purchase price was generated from sources unknown and potential customers, rightly so, dismissed Atomic Art as a overly priced product. This myth is without a doubt FALSE!
Territory exclusivity
Another myth that years ago reared its ugly head, apparently during the same time as the $200,000 price myth. Potential customers thought that upon purchase of a license they were provided an exclusive and protected territory, unfortunately this is also FALSE!
Royalties on products produced with Atomic Art
We’re not sure where this one came from, customers of Atomic Art DO NOT and NEVER HAVE paid any royalties on any project they create using the Atomic Art technology. Needless to say, this myth is FALSE!
2 separate licenses (1 for stone & 1 for glass)
This was indeed the original Atomic Art license availability. After much market research, customer feedback, and further R&D this double license requirement was phased out and replaced with a single license allowing for use of Atomic Art on any substrate, now FALSE!
$5500 per license for stone or glass
This was also an original license price structure of the Atomic Art technology for each substrate, which could in fact set back customers a whopping $11,000. Needless to say, this pricing structure was unacceptable and unnecessary, now FALSE!
Permanent
Atomic Art makes very clear, nothing is permanent and can be damaged from unusual and intentional abuse, such as, stabbing the substrate with metal objects. FALSE!
Highly Durable
With Permanent in mind as noted above we do promote Atomic Art as highly durable, i.e., scratch resistant, UV resistant, weather resistant and normal wear and tear durable, i.e., wind, rubbing, walking upon, cleaning, etc. TRUE!
Black Granite Works
After much R&D and due diligence in researching how to work with Black Granite, Atomic Art R&D staff have uncovered various secrets, techniques and methods in order to properly laser engrave in full color on this finicky, yet greatly requested substrate. TRUE !
Light Granite Works
Works just fine but we do highly recommend that “select granite” be chosen, those with the smallest quartz crystals for the expected and durable bonding results. TRUE!
Atomic Art Is a Slow Process
NO! Let me qualify that statement : Most potential customers of Atomic Art are under the false assumption that having to run four (4) passes for the CMYK Atomic Art process would make their projects unacceptably long. Since most photograph type images are traditionally laser engraved onto black vein-less marble, this has been our base to compare the Atomic Art process against.
Typical laser systems operate at about 40ips for good quality, high contrast images on black marble with a time to complete of approximately 40 minutes for a 12″x12″ full coverage image. Comparing that time to the Atomic Art process at four (4) passes, which we have continued to improve the process and increase the time to complete, is approximately 60 minutes vs. 40 minutes. Another FALSE!
High laser tube wattage is required
With the most popular laser system wattage sold on the market being 30 watts the Atomic Art R&D department utilized this power as a base to develop Atomic Art to ensure the majority of laser system owners could take advantage of the Atomic Art technology. Although Atomic Art can indeed be done with only 30 watts of power, more power translates into increased production, hence, decreasing the time to complete projects. FALSE!
Customer Exclusivity
This is not offered to ANY customers of the Atomic Art, full color laser engraving technology. FALSE!
US Dealer Exclusivity
This is not offered to dealers of the Atomic Art, full color laser engraving technology. FALSE!
US Distributor Exclusivity
There was a one (1) year period during the calendar year of 2008 that Atomic Art did indeed sign an exclusive agreement with a large format US based laser manufacturer, which upon expiration was promptly canceled (due to many unacceptable business practices). Now FALSE!
Foreign Dealer Exclusivity
We do NOT offer exclusivity to dealers in foreign countries (outside North America) FALSE!
Foreign Distributor Exclusivity
We do offer exclusivity to distributors in foreign countries (outside North America) TRUE!
$13,000 purchase price (we’ve recently heard up to $20,000)
This was one of those business practices by the exclusive US laser manufacturer that upon cancellation of the exclusive agreement was immediately terminated. FALSE!
Annual Renewal Requirement of $2000
This is another business practice that the exclusive USA laser manufacturer imposed upon their customers. Atomic Art does not and never will require customers to purchase an annual renewal license. This was one of those business practices by the exclusive US laser manufacturer that upon cancellation of the exclusive agreement was immediately terminated. FALSE!
Minimum annual consumable purchase requirement ($2000)
Yet another ridiculous business practice that the exclusive US laser manufacturer imposed upon their customers. Atomic Art does not and never will require customers to purchase a minimum amount of consumable for any given time to maintain their Atomic Art license agreement. FALSE!
